News.... [Jun. 17th, 2005|02:41 am]
We've been practicing for our show this Tuesday, June 21st @ DC 9 with Back to Blonde and Overhead Switch. Things are sounding great, please come out and show your support Tuesday and hopefully we'll have some free CDs to give away. For directions, times, and more info check out DC 9's webpage.
We're also still hard at work in the studio crankin' out the hits, so stay tuned for our EP coming soon.

On another note, K-Yun's father has released a CD of songs he wrote at the age of 17/18, back in the seventies entitled "Across The Miles". Defitinely worth checking out, there are 3 songs up on his Myspace page www.myspace.com/brianscottmusic

If you enjoy the 3 songs, you can purchase the entire CD for $10, just email
kjscott81@comcast.net
to find out how.

So the fat, balding kid we kicked out of the band broke into our myspace and shut it down, so anybody who visited the site and wondered what happened, don't worry. Hotel Yes has NOT broken up. The new myspace is www.myspace.com/hotelyesband. Everything from the old space should be up on the new one shortly. We'll also have an official site up and running very soon, as well as an EP. We'll keep you guys updated, but for now, don't worry. Hotel Yes is still here, and better than ever.

Long live Hotel Yes.

Viva La Hotel Yes.

Whats up with Hotel Yes? [Mar. 22nd, 2005|04:05 am]
I noticed we haven't posted in a while, so I thought I would bring everybody up to date. We haven't been pursuing shows at the moment because we haven't solidified our lineup yet, we even had to turn down the closing slot at the FDA reunion show this Saturday because of that. Bummer. I'll still be there though supporting the original Waldorf hardcore heros!
So we're going back in the studio and recording some of our new songs, which blow away anything we've done in the past. We'll also redo the vocals for "The End of October" and "Scorched & Tangled" because we've recieved mixed reviews on them, and we want nothing but the best.
So, stay tuned, and look out for our CD in a month or so. And of course, we still need a bass player.

Waldorf show [Feb. 7th, 2005|12:01 pm]
[music |the new tori joint]

The show went pretty damn good we think. We've basically discovered you're either gonna love us or hate us. The sound wasn't as good as we had hoped, but we had a good crowd and met some cool peeps. Thanks to everyone that came. We are STILL looking for a permanent bass player. Come on people, SOMEONE has to be able to play bass out there, or at least is willing to learn.

I woke up to the feeling of being a member of the best and most important new band of the last ten years. What did you wake up to?

And now it's snowing again.

And another thing.

Go to Aubade1984's livejournal and read his rant on the Stone Roses. Dead on. You could all learn a lot from him.

[music |McCarthy, "That's All Very Well But..."]

So I've noticed we don't have a lot of entries here. And the ones we have(no offense Kevin) hardly set the mind on fire. So in an effort to spice things up, this is gonna be our own personal wasteland now. I'm gonna start by instructing anyone who sees this and has the means to come see us in Waldorf on the 28th. Do yourself a favor. We're seriously like the only worthwhile thing out there. And I don't mean just musically. Seriously, what else do any of you have going for you? You may think I'm kidding, but I'm not. We're fucking amazing, and, let's all face it, unless you're in the Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream, Outkast, or your name is PJ Harvey, then you're not. Quit fooling yourselves with all these shitty indie bands. Do you really want to go see a bunch of kids in black hoodies with stupid matching haircuts, whom if they weren't on stage you'd be more likely to mistake for the paper boy than fucking rock stars? I sure as hell don't. I'll take Axl Rose, with all his homophobia, racism, misogyny, and general white trash-ness over some boring, self-righteous fuck like Ian Mackaye any day. Rock 'n' roll is supposed to be thrilling, so quit selling yourselves short as listeners. Demand greatness. Demand fire and brimstone and awe-inspiring acts of brash, messianic ego-fucking. Get rid of the black knit caps, people. Chuck Berry didn't start of all of this so that some sad bastards could get onstage looking like your neighbor's kid brother and bore holes right through your skull. And John Lydon didn't save it for that purpose either. So instead of sitting here and wondering aloud "Where are you now, Sylvester Stewart/John Lydon/Richey Edwards/Joan Jett?" I'm gonna make it easy on everybody. This is it, right here. This is probably the most important thing that's ever gonna happen to any of you. So you can send all sorts of bullshit retorts(which will be blatantly ignored) or you can embrace it, hop on, and get the ride of your life. It's up to you. And frankly, I don't care whether or not you get it, because there are a whole bunch of people out there who are ready for this. So the wait is over. It's 1955/1967/1976/1991 all over again. Hotel Yes. Get used to to hearing the name. It's gonna follow you all around for a long time.

I've got 2 out of 4 songs mixed and mastered, our smash hit "End Of October" and our prom dance ballad "Scorched & Tangled." 2 more songs to go, I'll hopefully have those on CD by the end of the week. We're STILL looking for a bass player, I know has to be one out there. If you are a bass player or know one, please hit us up. And if you're a guitar player that is willing to play bass, we'll take that too.
Until next time....

Comin at cha from the studio [Jan. 8th, 2005|02:15 am]
hey eurybody whats crackin?? i'm here at the studio mixing down some hotel yes tunes, and damn if this ain't some tedious shit. But, its sounding good so you'll be seeing CDs and mp3s from us soon, as long as my head doesn't spontaneously combust whilst in the studio twidling the knobs. Its 2:20 am and I'm still working on these jamz, they better sound good dammit. yeah. its a lot of work. damn hippies.

I realized to make this thing worth checking out, I should write more stuff. So heres a little more about the band. Matt1 is our guitartist and sings on a few of our jamz. Matt2 is our other guitarist and sings on most of the songs. Kinda confusing huh? I'm Kevin, or K-Yun, or whatever, and I beat the shit out of the drums. We're still looking for a permanent bass player, but for right now our friend John is filling in. He's damn good. So far we've played in DC, MD, and VA. Our last show was at an ice skating arena, that was pretty phat. There were people ice skating around us while we played. werd. Anyway, once we get a permanent bassist i'll be booking a lot more shows so stay tuned for that, and also I'm going to mix down our demo tonight so we should have MP3s up soon.
Things you can check out:
Our website, which really needs some work
Our MySpace page with pictures from shows and other good stuff.

Peasout for now...
